Hit the target in the middle to start.

Quick answer

Around 500-600 ms per target on medium size is a good result. Your score is the average time per target plus your accuracy.

How to use the Aim Trainer

  1. Choose how many targets you want and their size.
  2. Click the target in the middle to start the round.
  3. Click each new target as quickly as possible. Clicking the background counts as a miss.
  4. After the last target, you'll see your average time per target and accuracy.

Example

On medium targets you finish 30 targets with an average of 520 ms and 94% accuracy. Switching to small targets raises your time to 640 ms: smaller targets require a slower, more precise final adjustment. Practicing regularly on small targets improves the fine control that matters most in shooter games.

How it works

Each target appears at a random position. The trainer measures the time from when a target appears to when you hit it, then averages these times. Accuracy is hits divided by all clicks inside the area:

Accuracy = hits ÷ (hits + misses) × 100%

Your time depends on how far the next target is and how small it is. Scientists describe this trade-off with Fitts's law: movement time increases with distance and decreases with target size.

Train your aim effectively

  • Accuracy first: aim for 95%+ accuracy, then gradually go faster. Fast misses build bad habits.
  • Same sensitivity everywhere: use the same mouse sensitivity in your games and when training, so your muscle memory transfers.
  • Small targets for precision: once you're consistent on medium, switch to small targets for a few rounds.
  • Short sessions: 5-10 minutes before playing works as a warm-up. Long sessions add fatigue rather than skill.
  • Mousepad space: make sure you can move the mouse freely; running out of room ruins flicks.

Frequently asked questions

How can I improve my aim?

Practice in short daily sessions, find a mouse sensitivity you're comfortable with and stick to it, and focus on accuracy first. Speed follows.

What mouse sensitivity is best?

There's no single best value. Many competitive players use relatively low sensitivity, moving their whole arm for large turns and their wrist for fine adjustments.

Does a better mouse help?

A mouse with a good sensor, low weight and a smooth mousepad helps consistency. A high refresh rate monitor also makes tracking targets easier.

Does it work on touch screens?

Yes. On phones and tablets you tap the targets. Results aren't comparable with mouse results, though.
